The Massachusetts Hispanic Scholarship Fund (MAHSF) is proud to announce a new partnership with YDO (Youth Development Organization) at Lawrence High School. YDO’s mission is to grow a vibrant community of self-motivated learners and leaders by offering high-quality educational activities, developing supportive long-term relationships, and
providing personalized opportunities for success. YDO students, through their programs & collaborations, are able to participate in out-of-school enrichment spanning STEM disciplines, the performing & Fine Arts, and leadership development. YDO and MAHSF are highly complementary partners in their work with Lawrence High School students and families.
Through our outreach and education program, MAHSF will engage with the YDO Lawrence team and exchange information on key Hispanic scholarships and work with YDO students at Lawrence High School. Additionally, students can apply for our 2026–2027 scholarships, valued at $3,000 and $5,000.
YDO in Lawrence, Massachusetts, was founded in 2006 by Howard Sticklor as an out-of-school enrichment program. It began with small-scale math tutoring and a pilot genetics lab in partnership with Phillips Academy, growing over 20 years to offer free STEM, arts, and leadership programs to hundreds of students in Lawrence. On July 16, 2026, YDO will celebrate two decades of service, marked by the Lawrence City Council officially declaring July 16, 2026, as YDO Day following student advocacy.
The goal of MAHSF is to address some of the most challenging issues Hispanic students and families face in navigating scholarships while providing impactful scholarships of our own. As a 501 c3 charitable organization we seek to work with high schools in the Commonwealth that have the largest Hispanic communities with the greatest need. Since 2022 we have worked at Lawrence High School. In 2023, we began working with Chelsea High School.
