The Massachusetts Hispanic Scholarship Fund (MAHSF) announces its inaugural high school partner will be Lawrence High School (LHS) for the 2022-2023 school year. MAHSF will work with the Guidance team across The Lawrence High School Campus including LHS, Abbott Lawrence Academy, and the International High School to engage with students and their families to provide a $4,000 scholarship for a student attending a 4-year university or college or a $2,000 scholarship for a 2-year community college or vocational school.
The goal of MAHSF is to address some of the most challenging issues Hispanic students and families face in navigating scholarships while providing an impactful scholarship of its own. As a 501 c3 charitable organization we seek to work with high schools in the Commonwealth that have the largest Hispanic communities with the greatest need.
The Lawrence High School campus is one of the largest in the state, where almost 94% of the student population is Hispanic and more than 85% have Spanish as their first language. Approximately 90% of the population is considered in economic hardship and many of the students are first-generation to this country. Despite the challenges many of these students face including learning English, tackling standardized testing, working to support families at home and abroad, the student population and the city is resilient and hard-working group. The LHS Staff too is dedicated and outstanding promoting excellence, rigor, and social and emotional support.
The Massachusetts Hispanic Scholarship Fund is proud to work with Lawrence High School, engage with students, guidance, faculty, and parents and provide an impactful scholarship for the 2022-2023 school year.
